Stayton High School Adds New Pathways New

Superintendent, Andy Gardner and Principal, Alan Kirby formed an Industrial Arts Advisory Board this year in order to move forward and begin new pathways at Stayton High School for 2016-17.  Teachers, Rodney Weeks and Dale Sunderman will be guiding students as they enter and progress through their chosen pathway in order to have real world experiences in the fields of fabrications and construction.  This is a long process and NSSD would like to thank the members of the Industrial Arts Advisory Board, for the many hours they have volunteered toward this endeavor.  Members include:

Immunization Exemption Rates New

Each year NSSD must notify parents of the immunization exemption rates for each school.  This information is attached in a PDF document.  Parents may contact the District's nurse if they have any questions at 503-769-6924.

PIV Replaces Home Access Center New

PIV is an acronym for Pinnacle Internet Viewer. PIV access for student grades, attendance, and assignments will not be available until early October each year. Parents or guardians will be sent a login for their student’s information. Students will also be given a login for their access.

It is very important that parents/guardians make sure that the school has their current email address.  If a password is forgotten, the only way to retrieve it is via the email that is on file in the office.  Contact your school office if you need assistance with PIV.

Smarter Balanced Assessments

Beginning last spring, Smarter Balanced testing replaced existing assessment tests in English and math.   They offer significant improvements over previous state tests, including writing at every grade, new question types, and performance tasks that ask students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems.  Unlike the previous, multiple-choice-only tests, the new assessments include question formats that allow students to demonstrate a broader set of skills, like critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical writing.

YMCA Day Care Program-Ages 6 Weeks to Five Years

The North Santiam School District is partnering with the YMCA to provide day care for teen parents who want to continue their high school education at Stayton High School at no cost to the teen parent.
