Long Range Facilities Plan Committee Recommends for Bond

After seven months of work and careful consideration, the LRFMP Committee voted unanimously to recommend a $23 million bond be put on the ballot in November of 2012.  Attached is a marketing survey based on the options reviewed by the Committee prior to the recommendation.  Executive Secretary, Mary Richards will prepare the recommendation to be presented to the NSSD Board of Directors on May 17th during the scheduled Regular Session at 7:00 p.m. at Stayton High School.

A calendar of 8th Grade Promotions and Senior Graduation is listed below.  It is recommended that parents arrive early for optimal parking and preferred seating.


Friday, June 8th ~ Stayton High School Senior Graduation starting at 7:30 pm at the Salem Armory


Tuesday, June 12th ~ Sublimity School 8th Grade Promotion starting at 7:00 pm in the Sublimity gymnasium


Wednesday, June 13th ~ Mari-Linn School 8th Grade Promotion starting at 6:30 pm in the Mari-Linn gymnasium

Stayton High School Students Place Well at Skills USA Conference

Erika Mcintyre 1st place in Job skill demonstration. She gave a 7 minute talk on the steps to make a metal rose. This is a national competition she has qualified to go to in Kansas City Mossuri, the end of June.


She also placed 5th in Commercial Baking. Yep we bake in the shop. LOL She beat out 11 other students from culinary programs for the 5th place. Way to go Erica!


Heather Bierbower won 2nd place in Job Interview. She has now won 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in this contest in her high school career.

NOTICE OF BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING

A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the North Santiam School District, Marion County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013, will be held at 1155 N 3rd Avenue, Stayton, Oregon 97383.  The meeting will take place on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 7 PM.  The purpose of the meeting is to receive the budget message and to receive comment from the public on the budget.  A copy of the budget document may be inspected or obtained on or after May 21st  at the North Santiam School District

Google Apps for Education

This year, the North Santiam School District will provide students with Google Apps for Education accounts. Google Apps for Education includes free, web-based programs like email, document creation tools, shared calendars, and collaboration tools. This service is available through an agreement between Google and the State of Oregon.

Community Schools Summer Pilot Program Off To A Great Start

 


The North Santiam School District received a grant from the Oregon Community Foundation to run a six week summer pilot program offering students in the Santiam Canyon a chance to increase their learning opportunities in Math and Reading. This pilot program is a start to a community schools program that the district hopes to implement in the Fall of 2011, pending grant funding.
