Smarter Balanced Assessments New

Beginning last spring, Smarter Balanced testing replaced existing assessment tests in English and math.   They offer significant improvements over previous state tests, including writing at every grade, new question types, and performance tasks that ask students to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems.  Unlike the previous, multiple-choice-only tests, the new assessments include question formats that allow students to demonstrate a broader set of skills, like critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical writing.  

SHS Boys Soccer Takes 2nd Place at State New

NSSD Board Gives SHS Booster Club Award New

Board Chairman, Laura Wipper and SHS Principal, Alan Kirby presented Booster Club President, Randy Forrette and David Lindemann with an Award from the North Santiam School Board for exemplifying the District's guiding principle of "Always Doing What is Best for Kids".

Mid-Columbia Bus Routes New

NSSD contracts with Mid-Columbia Bus Company (MIDCO) for its transportation services.   For bus schedules or other information parents can contact MIDCO at 503-767-2480.

PIV Replaces Home Access Center New


PIV is an acronym for Pinnacle Internet Viewer. PIV access for student grades, attendance, and assignments will not be available until early October each year. Parents or guardians will be sent a login for their student’s information. Students will also be given a login for their access.   

YMCA After School Care Program New

The North Santiam School District is partnering with the YMCA in order to provide a continuation of an After School Care program for students in grade K-5.  The Food Service Department will be providing a snack type meal right after school to all students in the program. 

Stayton High School Students Earn 873 College Credits

Students at Stayton High School earned 873 College Credits through Chemeketa Community College during the 2014-15 School Year by taking College Credit Now Courses.  This saved parents over $80,000 in tuition costs and helped to encourage and contribute to a college-going culture in our community. 

YMCA Day Care Program-Ages 6 Weeks to Five Years

The North Santiam School District is partnering with the YMCA to provide day care for teen parents who want to continue their high school education at Stayton High School at no cost to the teen parent.
